Why People Love Gambling and Are Addicted to It

May 26, 2020 by Marilyn

Despite the not-too-favourable disposition that many social and religious groups have towards gambling, the fact remains that the adventure keeps winning the admiration of many people, especially the youth. Statistica.com, for instance, reports that at least 32% of UK citizens gamble every week. This is quite significant, and anyone may want to know why this game of chance has such a firm root even among the crème de la crème of our society. Many people display signs of addiction to this game by using resources they ought to use for self or family development to gambling. Here are some of the possible reasons for this action.

1.      Escape Mechanism

One fact we cannot contest is that there are problems everywhere. People face challenges of different magnitudes and on various fronts. These sometimes lead to conditions such as depression, loneliness, or boredom. Many people have found the momentary ecstasy that often accomplishes gambling useful in helping them get over these things.

2.      Easy Wealth

Primarily, every gambling scheme aims to make the players rich by just predicting certain things correctly or doing some not-so-stressful things that depend entirely on chance. If you know one or two things about Betway Casino or other betting outlets, it won’t be difficult to appreciate why people love gambling so much. A single play can make someone become a millionaire overnight.

3.      Social Connectedness

Most gamblers see one another as a member of the same family. As such, it is not unusual to find people developing bonds that might even go beyond the game. And where people feel at home, it is often difficult to say bye to such places or deeds.

4.      Charity

Several charity courses are run by gambling. As such, players feel that by participating, they are helping certain people or championing a worthy course. Because of this, many gamblers feel encouraged to keep trying the next bet, since they believe they are helping some by doing so.

5.      Peer Pressure

If someone has a friend that is a gambler, it is more likely that the one who is not yet a player will become one. The occasional “big wins” can be so captivating that even without any verbal persuasion, the one who is not into the act may become fully persuaded to join.

6.      It is Easy to Gamble

Apart from one’s money needed to gamble, there is no specialized training required to become a gambler. There is no age limitation in this adventure; neither is there any financial limit. The only thing that is required is a gambler’s willingness to try it out. What incentive can be greater than that?

Conclusion

The reasons people gamble vary widely. Also, so many reasons abound for why gamblers seem addicted. Some or all of these six points reveal why anyone would feel so attached to this adventure. That said, gamblers may have to seek help where appropriate because the act can destroy the gambler suddenly.

A bad girl’s guide to Vegas

December 25, 2015 by Marilyn Leave a Comment

I don’t know how much we lost playing roulette, what time we left the casino or the club, how many drinks we downed or how we found our way back to the hotel. All I know is that by the time morning came, we were circling Trump’s gold skyscraper in a chopper, looking down at Vegas as if it were a toy town, and I was still wearing last night’s make-up and fake diamonds, and was still drunk on last night’s champagne.
